Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Will Finally Open This December

After two decades of anticipation, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi has confirmed that it will open to the public on 11 December 2026. Designed by the late Frank Gehry, the monumental museum on Saadiyat Island will be the largest in the Guggenheim network, bringing together 30 galleries around a soaring central atrium.

Its collection will span modern and contemporary art from the 1960s to the present, with an emphasis on artistic exchange across cultures rather than a strictly chronological or geographical narrative. Surrounded by sculptural cones inspired by the region’s traditional wind towers, the building is set to become a cultural landmark in its own right. The Art Newspaper
