The 2027 Pirelli Calendar has been photographed entirely in India for the first time, bringing together an all-Indian female cast including Padma Lakshmi, Freida Pinto, Anoushka Shankar, Rupi Kaur and Bhavitha Mandava. Photographers Sølve Sundsbø and Avani Rai shot across locations including Old Delhi and Jaipur, combining fashion imagery with the country’s streets, architecture and cultural landscape. Beyond representation, the project marks an important change in perspective: India is presented as the author of the image, not simply a source of craftsmanship, textiles and visual inspiration for Western luxury.
